General Overview

The Directorate of Gender Affairs (DoGA) is a division within the Ministry of Social Transformation and the Blue Economy. As the national gender machinery and focal agency for gender and development in Antigua & Barbuda, the DoGA’s focal mandate is to empower women and promote gender equality nationally.

We seek to raise public consciousness on gender and development by providing guidance and support to governmental departments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society, and faith-based organizations. We compile and disseminate information related to gender and development, create and interpret gender-responsive policies that suit the local context, and establish gender-responsive performance standards.

Mission

To be the leading agency responding to and advocating for the eradication of persisting forms of gender inequality and inequity. DoGA aims to do so through sensitization and awareness-raising, gender mainstreaming, creating gender-responsive programmes and policies, and facilitating community-based action.

Vision

The Directorate of Gender Affairs is committed to ensuring that women and men in Antigua & Barbuda

  1. can enjoy their full rights as individuals, and
  2. are equal partners in shaping the economic, political, social, and cultural development of the country.
